At the Baltimore Innovation Week Innovation Celebration, three health-focused startups’ CEOs spoke with Emerging Technology Centers’ President Deb Tillett about their pivots during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and how being located in Baltimore has helped facilitate innovation and growth. emocha’s platform had previously been utilized by the State of Maryland during Ebola, and during the pandemic, the technology was leveraged to monitor symptoms of COVID-19 in Johns Hopkins hospital staff.  It was soon necessary to become not solely a “symptoms monitoring program and software but a full engagement service to solve all problems that happen on a given day and close the loop that day,” says CEO Sebastian Seiguer. This meant more than doubling in size over a short period of time. Health startups in Baltimore have become a vital part of the community, in part thanks to accelerator programs like ETC.
