emocha CEO Sebastian Seiguer and infectious disease expert and Hopkins professor Dr. Bob Bollinger spoke to Healthcare Innovation about leveraging technology to improve care management and monitoring in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Bollinger first developed emocha as a research data collection platform in 2007 for use in rural Uganda, and the technology was then adapted and commercialized by Mr. Seiguer. While primarily used as medication adherence technology, emocha has also been used since 2015 to monitor exposure to infectious disease beginning with the Ebola outbreak. Now, emocha’s mobile app is being used to monitor healthcare professionals exposed to COVID-19.
