emocha’s platform has helped support contact tracing for positive COVID-19 cases in partnership with the City of San Antonio. While the local health department’s original plan was to hire a maximum of 175 case investigators — beginning with 25 volunteers in Bexar County — this ultimately proved unsustainable due to time constraints and rapidly increasing need. emocha stepped in, having a proven track record with a March pilot program with the City. There are now over 100 contact tracers, with plans to hire up to 400 in total. The Alamodome has become a pop-up socially-distanced office, providing space for the 15-fold increase in the scale of the contact tracing and investigating response.
